Marking New Menus

MARKING NEW MENUS – Our new food review channel

When we were travelling the canals and waterways of the UK, we noticed that whilst there were listings of places to stop and eat on the canal and river network, no one had actually shown or reviewed what the food was like.

These could be canalside pubs, popular with boaters from long ago and (thankfully) still going strong, to restaurants, cafes and all manner of eateries that find themselves next to, or very close to, a waterway.

Armed with just a camera and our usual “banter” we set about filming some of the places we had stopped to eat and drink in along our journey.

After some initial teething problems with filming in mainly loud, music blaring establishments and without trying to disturb other diners, and editing the footage so that it didn’t look like Tony dribbled(!) we finally found a style that we still continue to hone.

Initially we uploaded these vlogs to our main Making New Memories channel, but the way YouTube algorithms work, it didn’t like the fact that we were mixing narrowboats and food in the same channel, so, we decided to create a completely separate channel which is now up and running!

MARKING NEW MENUS will see us review as many places as we can get to given our restraints – financial as well as geographical, but we intend to visit and sample as many as we can and upload the resultant vlogs once a month, or thereabouts!

We hope you can SUBSCRIBE to our new channel and look forward to your comments as we go.

We’re open to recommendations as well, so if there’s a particular place you’d like us to try, drop us a line on here or on YouTube.
